When Power Dynamics Collide with the Collaborative Process

As collaborative professionals, we strive to level the playing field and create a respectful, balanced and effective environment for our clients.  But in what subtle (and not-so-subtle) ways might we collaborative professionals, ourselves, upset the balance, bringing in our own power dynamics? We will have an informal discussion about all matters related to power and control within the collaborative team, including questions such as:

 

Where does advocacy lean toward control in collaborative?  How does operating in the shadow of the law and the echoes of litigation begin to shape the collaborative process, and how do you manage this?  How have power and control shown up in your teams and how have you dealt with it?  These are just some of the questions we will ponder in our next NYC pod meeting.  Please join us and share your personal experiences and brilliant insights!
