Laurence M. Westreich, MD is a psychiat rist who specializes in the treatment of patients dually diagnosed with add iction and mental disorders. He received his medical degree from the Univer sity of Minnesota School Of Medicine, and following an internship in Intern al Medicine at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota , completed a residency in General Psychiatry at New York's Beth Israel Me dical Center and a fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry at the New York Unive rsity School of Medicine/Bellevue Hospital. He is board-certified by the Am erican Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in general psychiatry, addiction p sychiatry, and forensic psychiatry and is certified as a Medical Review Off icer by the Medical Review Officer Certification Council. Dr. Westreich is Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry , New York University School of Medicine and serves as the Consultant on Be havioral Health and Addiction to the Commissioner of Major League Basebal l. He is the author of Helping the Addict You Love(Simon and Schus ter), A Parents Guide to Teen Addiction (Skyhorse Publishing) and is Past-President of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry.
