About my Practice
I help clients maximize their effectiveness at the collaborative table. At such a high stress time and with so much at stake, emotions can easily hijack the process and leave clients frustrated and engaged in cut offs or repetitive dialogues that do not advance their goals.
In my role as a divorce coach I build on the skills I've acquired in more than 25 years at the Ackerman Institute for the Family (www.ackerman.org) where I teach advanced family therapy and direct the Family and Divorce Mediation Program. I work with my clients to distill what is most important to them and communicate those interests effectively in this process. I help my clients intercept the recurring patterns that shape high conflict divorce, and implement successful strategies in the collaborative process. For those clients who are parents I also help develop a parenting plan that will work best for their family. In addition I also support the professional team with salient information and guidance to optimize their understanding and effectiveness in the process.
Over the course of my career I have presented nationally and internationally on family therapy, mediation, and collaborative divorce coaching, including annual meetings of the American Family Therapy Academy, the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. I have published in a number of professional journals and have been quoted by the New York Times, the Associated Press, and other media outlets, including National Public Radio.
I'm active in a number of professional organizations, currently serving on the Board of Directors of the New York Association for Collaborative Professionals as well as the New York Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy. My private practice in collaborative divorce coaching, mediation, and psychotherapy is centered in New York City, and I work as part of collaborative teams in Manhattan and lower Westchester.
