About my Practice
Separation or divorce can be a time of great emotional, financial, and personal stress for individuals and families. At the same time, many people find, in retrospect, that it can be a turning point in their lives, leading to significant insight and growth. My role is to support individuals and families through the crisis of divorce compassionately and skillfully so that the negative effects are minimized and the potential for growth is maximized.
I am an experienced and compassionate Child Specialist, Neutral Divorce Coach, Individual Divorce Coach, and Divorce Mediator, dedicated to helping separating and divorcing couples reach sensible agreements about living separate lives respectfully, peacefully, and cost-effectively.
As a Child Specialist and former Adjunct Professor in Child Development, I am committed to ensuring that the developmental and special needs of children are fully considered in a Parenting Plan. I also help guide separating parents to co-parent and communicate more effectively in order to minimize the negative emotional impact on the family.
As your individual coach, I help you prepare for joint sessions with attorneys, including learning not to be emotionally triggered or triggering in the joint sessions, gaining clarity on what is important to you and why, and being able to express your needs in a way that will be heard and valued.
As a neutral coach for the team, I keep the process moving forward efficiently and respectfully and also help you and your spouse or partner devise a sensible parenting plan that works for both of you and is tailored to the unique needs of your children. Because I am also a skilled therapist, I can help explore or diffuse difficult emotions that may arise in joint sessions, which may otherwise derail the process.
I am comfortable with a wide range of couples and situations, including same sex couples, never married couples, cases that were in litigation, co-mediation, and others.
In addition to being a Divorce Coach, Child Specialist, and Mediator, I am an Individual, Couples, and Family Therapist, with specializations in Divorce, Individuals/Families in Transition, Mood Disorders (including Bipolar Disorder), Anxiety Disorders, and Eating Disorders. I integrate Psychodynamic, Cognitive-behavioral (CBT), Dialectical-behavioral (DBT), Wellness, and Buddhist principles into a holistic approach to help patients identify connections between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, as well as examine broader, underlying issues related to identity, values, and purpose.
I have offices in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Westchester, and I have availability during the day, in the evenings, and on some weekends.
I also offer a free consultation to make sure that you are comfortable with me in the room.
