Thursday, June 17, 2021
12:00PM-1:30PM

Presented by Denisa Tova, MBA, CFP, CDFA, CQS
Certified QDRO & Retirement Valuation Specialist

Moderator: Ken Novenstern, Esq.

In this webinar, Denisa Tova, CFP, CDFA, CQS, MBA, Founder and President of TOVA QDRO & Retirement Valuation Consultants LLC, will discuss how dealing with retirement assets has been oversimplified, where the process breaks down and specific steps to get it right. Denisa will explain how to do due diligence to verify retirement assets/benefits; she will discuss the New NYC Police Pension Rules, and also how to avoid one of the top settlement traps – “equalization”.

Objectives:

The objective is to gain an understanding of retirement distribution in divorce. The program will offer a detailed review of the retirement assets and explain the rules for tax free transfers between divorcing spouses. The practitioner will learn about Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDRO) and which retirement assets can and which can’t be divided with QDRO.

It will educate the practitioner about how to protect the former spouse’s share of the retirement benefit in the event of the account holder’s death.
