Beginning with an overview of the types of retirement plans and accounts, we will then quickly move into negotiation strategies and a checklist for your settlement agreements.  Questions and Answers will be addressed.  


CAROLYN A. D'AGOSTINO, ESQ.

Carolyn A. D'Agostino is a 1994 graduate of Loyola University of Chicago School of Law, magna cum laude where she was a member of the Loyola Law Journal and an editor of the Loyola Consumer Law Reporter.  She graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton, with a double major in Economics and English Literature and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.  From 1994 until 1996 she was an associate at the Albany Law firm of Whiteman, Osterman and Hanna.  She is the former Director of Hearing Administration and the Matrimonial Unit at the New York State Retirement Systems.   She has been a Continuing Legal Education speaker at Bar Association functions throughout the state of New York, on nationally broadcast webinars, and is a past President of the Rensselaer County Bar Association and  has served as Secretary and Treasurer of  the Collaborative Divorce Association of the Capital District.  Ms. D'Agostino was the 2013 recipient of the Barry A. Gold Law Firm Leadership award for outstanding legal service to domestic violence victims, given by the Legal Project of the Women's Bar Association of Albany.

In addition to concentrating on the division of retirement assets in divorce matters, Ms. D'Agostino is a trained collaborative lawyer and mediator and represents parties in  both collaborative and litigated divorce and post-judgment matters, prenuptial agreements,  estate planning and elder law, and issues affecting same-sex and other non-married partners such as parenting agreements, partnership agreements, dissolution, and estate planning.  In December, 2010, she was awarded an LLM (Master of Laws) degree in Estate Planning and Elder Law at Western New England College of Law.

Since 2012, Ms. D'Agostino has been assisted in the office by paralegal Rebekah Srygley, who is a 2009 graduate of the State University of New York at Potsdam where she received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a 2012 graduate of Bryant & Stratton College where she received a paralegal degree.
